BIG Animation partners NICK, Hungama and BIG Home Video for Little Krishna’s licensing & merchandising, digital and home video rights
Little Krishna bags Best Animation Award at ASIAN Television Award

maiden 3D animated series Little Krishna is going places ever since its premiere on TV channel NICK garnered highest TRP amongst kids program in the country. The series already created history by partnering with Evergreen Entertainment, one of the biggest International Distributor for its global distribution rights.
Targeting a 360 degree approach for Little Krishna, BIG Animation has now sold its Licensing and Merchandising rights to NICK, which will be rolled out in January next year. Hungama has bought Little Krishna’s digital rights encompassing, Mobile Ring Tones and Digital Wallpapers and BIG Home Video has bought home video rights, both of which are being launched this December.
What’s more? The series has recently won the prestigious Best Animation Award at Asian Television Award at (ATF), Singapore on the 3rd Dec 2009.
Little Krishna has in the last couple of years amassed an enviable portfolio by winning 5 FICCI Frames Awards, 3 Golden Cursor Awards, 1 ASIFA and 1 TASI Award encompassing every creative and technical parameter.
BIG Animation CEO Ashish S.K. said, “After being such a massive success in India, it’s for the first time that an Indian original IP is all set to make its presence felt in the global arena. The deal with a global distribution giant like Evergreen was real breakthrough. We are looking at a 360 degree approach for the property with Broadcasting, Licensing & Merchandising, Mobile Ring Tones, Wallpapers, Home Video and every other means of presence related to Little Krishna for which we have signed deals with Hungama.com, NICK and BIG Home Video. From December’09 onwards Little Krishna will available be on every major shelf in the country and hopefully will find its way in every Indian home too”.
Commenting on this acquisition, Evergreen’s Chief Executive, Steve Walsh explains what prompted him to position the series as one of the key animated property in their global hot list. “Little Krishna is our first Indian IP product. It looks like a million dollar product, is very well written, the animation is great and is in 3D which adds to its attractiveness. The series offers such a fresh look from anything that we have seen till date coming out of India. It has already done phenomenally well since its premiere on NICK India and we believe that it will enthrall the world audience equally well. It can be truly termed as a global family entertainer and kids are going to love the wide variety of monsters that the series portrays.”
As for the animation industry in India, Steve’s remarks ensures a definite and refreshed outlook of the global market towards Indian animated content and may be the dawn of recognition that the industry had been long striving for.
Evergreen Entertainment is gearing up to showcase Little Krishna at Kids Screen Festival, New York and MIPTV next year.
The 13 episodes of “Little Krishna” is a result of seven years of painstaking research work, handpicked from the chronicles of Krishna, the most remarkable stories of the legendary “prankster” in the Indian heritage. The India Heritage Foundation as the co-creator of the series lends the absolute authenticity of every element shown in the episodes. From that perspective, the series is truly a collector’s item.
While the episodes of “Little Krishna” capture a magnum canvas on screen with the colossal battles of good against evil, it never misses to touch the emotional chord of the narrative as Krishna teaches the virtues of love, courage and selflessness to children worldwide.
